About Us

We work with local nonprofits to provide first night bags, toiletries, kitchen kits, school supplies and other requested items to children in need.

We started our nonprofit in 2018 after a school assignment showed us how much help foster children needed in North Carolina.  As brothers, we realized we can have an impact and make a difference in our own way.

Since then, we have worked together with our generous donors, volunteers and organizations in North Carolina to help in any way we can.

Aarav Prakash

Co-Founder, President

Hello! I'm Aarav Prakash, one of the co-founders and the president of Handle with Care for Kids. I'm a senior at Durham Academy. I started this organization with my brother, who got the idea to help those in need from a seventh grade project and took over when he left for college. I am truly privileged to be able to help others and provide a space for others like me to be able to help. Outside of Handle with Care, I love horseback riding and robotics.

Veer Prakash

Vice President, Co-Founder

Hi! I'm Veer Prakash (he/him), the co-founder and vice-president of Handle with Care for Kids. I'm a junior at New York University. I was inspired to start this nonprofit after an English assignment in 2018 and have been along for the ride ever since. I am so honored that our organization has reached so many people since then and am incredibly grateful to everyone that's helped is  on our journey. Outside of Handle with Care for Kids, I love to spend time with my friends and family, listen to music, and debate.

Amelia Moore

Volunteer

Hi! My name is Amelia. I am a senior at Green Level High school and want to major in Psychology in college.  I joined Handle with Care for Kids in 2019.  I have had such a rewarding experience seeing how we can help actually make a difference in people's lives.  My responsibilities include researching needs in the community and establishing connections with new organizations. I also purchase, assemble and deliver whatever items are requested for several organizations and am responsible for the relationships with Haven House and Emily K Center.  She can’t wait to do more to continue to help with the organization in the future.

Kelan Moore

Volunteer

I’m in the class of 2025 attending Green Level High School. I play varsity lacrosse for my school. I started helping out HWCFK in 2021 and have been so impressed by how much we can help the community, specifically young people. I am responsible for the relationship with the Carying Place. I enjoy making connections with the foundations we are serving and helping them help others.
